This unique sterling silver pendent was handcrafted by Navajo artist Merle House using genuine blue gem turquoise that is set into a smooth sterling silver bezel. This pendent is adorned with lovely sterling silver designs and appliqued sterling silver dots. This pendent is approximately 2.5" L x 1.25" W and the bail can accommodate a necklace that is approximately 0.25" W. This pendent is stamped and signed by the artist.
Blue Gem turquoise can actually come from three different mines, the most historic one being the Battle Mountain Blue Gem Turquoise Mine. This is one of the deepest turquoise mines around, located about 800 feet under ground. Because of copper and gold mining also being popular to mine for, this mine is unfortunately no longer in existence. Finding a piece of Blue Gem turquoise is very rare, which makes it incredibly valuable.
