This beautiful sterling silver lapis ring is a definite statement piece. It was handcrafted by a Navajo artist using genuine lapis and is approximately 2.5" L x 2" W with the stone measuring approximately 1.75" L x 1.25" W. The large stone is set into a sterling silver saw tooth bezel with adornments of sterling silver twisted rope, appliqued stamped sterling silver dots and stamped scalloping on the edges. The band also features some stamp work and is approximately 0.5" W and fits a size 8 finger.
Lapis lazuli has been used since ancient times and remains popular, denoted for its deep blue color and high quality. Some stones can contain a matrix of calcite and pyrite, which can make the stone appear lighter or have more greyish tones. Lapis can range from very deep royal blue all the way to a lighter almost baby blue (known as denim lapis). Most of the lapis used today originates from Asia or the Middle East.
