This beautiful sterling silver watchband was handcrafted by a Navajo artist using genuine black jet stones set into sterling silver saw tooth bezels. This watchband is also adorned with twisted sterling silver rope, sterling silver appliqued dots and hand saw cut designs. The band is approximately 2.5" in diameter and is 1.25" at the widest point and tapers down to 1" W. This band is stamped.
Black jet can be found in many locations all over the world and actually forms from fossilized wood. Because of its organic origin it is not a mineral, but it is a gem nonetheless. Its use in jewelry can date all the way back to Ancient Britain and even the Victorian Times. It is still very popular to use in jewelry today because it is much softer than other black stones such as obsidian and onyx, and is primarily found in inlay pieces.
