This stunningly unique sterling silver reversible pendent was handcrafted by a Navajo artist. On one side the pendent features a lovely mosaic inlay design which includes genuine turquoise, purple spiny oyster, lapis, and lab-created opal stones, which are each separated by a sterling silver channel and the entire portion is set into a smooth sterling silver bezel. On the reverse side there is a very simple but traditional sterling silver overlay design. The pendent is approximately 1.25" L x 0.5" W and the bail can accommodate a necklace that is approximately 0.25" W. The pendent is signed by the artist.
The art of inlay in jewelry was originally started by the people of the Zuni Pueblo of New Mexico, although many other tribes such as the Navajo have started to use this technique in their designs. Inlay designs tend to include many different stones that complement each other. The most common stones found in inlay jewelry are black jet, mother of pearl, turquoise and coral.
