This beautiful sterling silver teardrop pendent was handcrafted by Navajo artist Evangie David using genuine turquoise, purple spiny oyster, lapis and denim lapis stones set into their own sterling silver channel. The entire mosaic inlay portion is set into a smooth sterling silver bezel. This pendent is approximately 1.75" L x 0.75" W and the bail can accommodate a necklace that is approximately 0.25" W. This pendent is stamped and signed by the artist.
The art of inlay in jewelry was originally started by the people of the Zuni Pueblo of New Mexico, although many other tribes such as the Navajo have started to use this technique in their designs. Inlay designs tend to include many different stones that complement each other. The most common stones found in inlay jewelry are black jet, mother of pearl, turquoise and coral.
