These beautiful sterling silver horse style earrings were handcrafted by Navajo artist Valerie Yazzie using genuine turquoise, lapis, charoite and gaspeite stones. Each stone is inlaid into its one sterling silver channel and the entire portion is set into a smooth sterling silver bezel. These earrings are approximately 1" L x 1" W. The art of inlay in jewelry was originally started by the people of the Zuni Pueblo of New Mexico, although many other tribes such as the Navajo have started to use this technique in their designs. Inlay designs tend to include many different stones that complement each other. The most common stones found in inlay jewelry are black jet, mother of pearl, turquoise and coral.
