These lovely sterling silver earrings were handcrafted by a Zuni artist using genuine turquoise, coral, and black jet stones. Each stone is set into its own channel separated by either sterling silver or black jet. The entire inlay portion is set into a smooth sterling silver bezel and the earrings are adorned with hand saw cut designs around the edges. The earrings are post style and measure approximately 1.5" L x 1.5" W. These earrings are stamped and signed by the artist.
The art of inlay in jewelry was originally started by the people of the Zuni Pueblo of New Mexico, although many other tribes such as the Navajo have started to use this technique in their designs. Inlay designs tend to include many different stones that complement each other. The most common stones found in inlay jewelry are black jet, mother of pearl, turquoise and coral.
